Families from Roboskî met at the cemetery to commemorate their relatives and demand justice as well as the release of the people recently detained.
The families of the 34 people including children that were massacred during the Turkish warplanes’ bombardment in the Roboskî village of Şırnak’s Uludere district on December 28, 2011 gathered at the cemetery to pray and maintain their children’s graves despite the cold weather.
Zilan Encü spoke during the meeting and recalled that 5 years have passed since the massacre. Encü said “None of us has forgotten the loud sound of the planes that massacred our children that night. When we as the entire village went to the site of the massacre despite the snow, we encountered a scene that is a shame for entire humanity. 34 people, 34 civilians, 34 mutilated bodies, tens of slain mules, scattered goods…"
Encü said the non-prosecution of the perpetrators implies their protection, and recalled that families have been punished since that date instead.
Lastly, Encü demanded the immediate release of HDP Şırnak parliamentarian Ferhat Encü, as well as Veli Encü, Taybet Encü, Yannis Vasilis Yaylalı, Meral Geylani, Ubeydullah Encü and Hikmet Alma, who had recently been detained.
