Turkish police continue the operation against people who joined the condolence ceremony for TAK militant Abdulbaki Sömer who carried out the action against a Turkish military convoy in capital city Ankara one week ago, which left 29 dead and over 60 wounded.

Yesterday, police raided the house of condolence for Sömer in Şehit Fırat neighborhood of Van's central İpekyolu district. Kurdish militant's father Musa Sömer and brother Nuri Sömer were both detained on grounds of “spreading propaganda for a terrorist organisation” with the banners hanged in the house. The day before, father Musa Sömer had been detained and taken to Ankara after the TAK announcement that the action in Ankara had been conducted by a militant of theirs, which also provided the ID details of the mentioned fighter. Father Sömer was released after a DNA test which proved the perpetrator to be his son, contrary to the claims of Turkish officials that the blast was conducted by a YPG member from Syria.

Police forces yesterday also conducted raids on a number of houses in Yeni and Karşıyaka neighborhoods of the İpekyolu district. 9 people were taken into custody for joining the condolence ceremony for TAK member Abdulbaki Sömer.

Last night, police conducted another raid in the house of DBP Van provincial branch co-chair Caziye Duman who was also detained for visiting the house of condolence for TAK militant.

Six executive members of DBP Bahçesaray district were also taken into custody as a result of house raids today.
