HPG announced that 1 tank, 3 armored vehicles, 1 panzer, 1 container and 1 surveillance camera were destroyed and 7 armored vehicles were damaged during the action in Şemdinli.
HPG Media Center announced the results of the guerilla action from 7 different directions in Şemdinli district center on August 18. HPG stated that 1 tank, 3 armored vehicles, 1 panzer, 1 container and 1 surveillance camera were destroyed and 7 armored vehicles were damaged. 5 special operations police officers were killed during the action.
HPG stated that the first guerilla unit hit the lodgings of the district governorate and damaged an armored vehicle. The numbers of dead and injured state forces have not yet been clarified.
The second guerilla unit hit the Çağlayan school building occupied by special operations police officers and damaged the building as well as an armored vehicle.
The third and fourth guerilla units targeted the District Gendarme Base and damaged an armored vehicle on Cumhuriyet Avenue.
The fifth, sixth and seventh guerilla units targeted the special operations police officers’ positions at the entrance of Şemzinan and 10 armored vehicles were hit and 4 police officers were killed by the fifth unit. The sixth unit destroyed one container, 3 vehicles armored vehicle, and damaged 2 armored vehicles. 1 police officer was killed during the clashes here.
HPG Media Center announced that the third and fourth guerilla units took control of Şapatan region as well as the road between Şemzinan and Gever. HPG said that Turkish soldiers began to shell civilian vehicles after their failure to end the guerilla control in the area, and were able to retrieve the bodies of dead soldiers only when the guerilla units withdrew from the region in the evening.
HPG noted that guerillas carried out an action against a military convoy attempting to leave Şemzinan at 07:45 this morning, and numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been clarified
HPG stated that in total, 1 tank, 2 armored vehicles, 1 Kobra-type armored vehicle, 1 panzer, 1 container and 1 surveillance camera were destroyed and 4 Ejder-type armored vehicles, 3 armored vehicles were damaged during the guerilla action which was carried out to commemorate the guerillas martyred in Gostê.
