The Democratic Autonomous Council of Shengal (Sinjar) held an extraordinary meeting on Monday to evaluate the latest developments in the region. After the meeting, the Council Co-chair Heso İbrahim read out a statement.
Stating that they do not recognize any decision taken against their will, Heso said: “Iraq owes us. We do not make any demands from them. However, they should come and discuss with us. We dedicated too much during the past 6 years. Today they want to make us weak. As the people of Shengal, we are determined to resist to the end. If Iraq wants to get to know us, it should come and meet us. Otherwise, it should be known that we will fight to the end in the event of an attack on our defense forces, especially on the Êzidixan Asayish. We are not into a civil war. We always want problems to be resolved through dialogue. But if a war is imposed on us, we will resist with all our might.”
Finally, Heso called for the entire Yazidi community to gather in front of the Asayish (Public Security) centers in Shengal, Sinune, Khanasor at 09:00 tomorrow, Tuesday.
