Shengal Democratic Autonomous Administration celebrates 7th anniversary of liberation from ISIS

The Shengal Democratic Autonomous Administration, in its message on the anniversary of the liberation of Shengal from ISIS mercenaries, said: "We promise our people and our martyrs that we will create a free and autonomous Shengal."

Shengal was liberated from ISIS mercenaries on 13 November 2015 with great heroism and resistance. Today, on the 7th anniversary of the liberation, Shengal Democratic Autonomous Administration said in a statement: “The liberation was achieved under the leadership of YBŞ forces of freedom guerrillas and YPG-YPJ fighters. Shengal was liberated street by street, house by house and step by step. First of all, we commemorate those who fell as martyrs in this resistance with respect and we promise them to create an autonomous and free Shengal.

The Yazidi people broke the chains of slavery. Great steps have been taken for an autonomous and free Shengal. These developments have come at great cost. That's why we need to remember the lines of betrayal and resistance on the 7th anniversary of the liberation of Shengal."

Pointing out that the KDP abandoned Shengal without firing a single bullet, the Autonomous Administration said: “The KDP continued its betrayal. The Yazidi people describe this betrayal as a 'great betrayal'. Since then, the KDP has continued to fail the Yazidi people.”

The statement noted that those who liberated Shengal were exposed to the attacks carried out by the KDP and the Turkish state, and added: “The Turkish state is attacking both the Yazidi people and the freedom guerrillas. Our leading people who liberated Shengal, such as Martyr Seid, Mam Zeki and Zerdeşt Şengali, as well as the freedom guerrillas who played a role in the liberation of Shengal, continue to be targeted by the Turkish state today.”

The statement ended with the following words: “On the anniversary of the liberation of Shengal, we promise our people and our martyrs that we will create a free and autonomous Shengal, whatever the cost. We believe that both the resistance by guerrillas and the people of Shengal will be successful.”
