South Kurdistan youths: Qandil means honour and identity to us

Hundreds of youths from South Kurdistan went to Qandil to show support to guerrillas against the Turkish state's occupation attempts and collaboration and and gave the message “We are the guerrillas, guerrillas are us”.

Hundreds of youths from Germiyan, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Sharezor, Raperin, Hewler and Koy Sancak territories of South Kurdistan met in Qandil yesterday, and gave the message “We are the guerrillas, guerrillas are us”.

South Kurdistan youths spoke to ANF and voiced criticism at the occupation plans against Qandil and Shengal.

Şemal İsmail said: "We are here to support the struggle of Kurds that some other forces want to obstruct. We hereby call on all Kurdish political parties to unite under the same roof. Qandil is a very strategic location and serves as a fortress for the Kurds. We must turn every inch of Kurdistan into a fortress like Qandil. To us, Qandil is honour and identity, on which we are always proud and hold our head high."

Another youth Karwan Mahmud who joined the march from Sulaymaniyah stated that: "We came to Qandil to make a call to all the political parties in South Kurdistan. Guerrillas are Kurds who give a struggle for freedom in four parts of Kurdistan. We say this to the political parties 'We are the guerrillas and the guerrillas are us. Guerrillas are everywhere where Kurds are'."

Hüseyin Muhammed, who comes from Kirkuk city of South Kurdistan, pointed out that they as patriotic youths of South Kurdistan came to Qandil to condemn the Turkish state's fascist policies. He added: "We also condemn the South Kurdistan government and KDP policies on this issue. KDP pursues dirty policies against its own people and the PKK. We are here to say 'Enough' to the threats uttered by the KDP against PKK over Shengal and Qandil".
