As the state of siege and onslaught continues in Amed's historic Sur district for the 88th uninterrupted day, 10 consecutive huge blasts have occurred in the areas of clashes as of 10:00 this morning.
While the sounds of explosions have shaken the entire city, as many as 200 civilians still remain trapped in neighborhoods under fire by state forces. Those trapped in basements include babies, elderly and wounded. 4-month-old Elif Su Aslan is among these people who are awaiting a safe evacuation from the area which cannot be realized at the moment due to the ongoing shelling by state forces.
The district is also witnessing an intense activity of Turkish helicopters.
Turkish forces have started a heavy aggression on the neighborhoods protected by local units of self-defense at 06:30 this morning.
State forces could make no advance into the areas of self-rule despite resorting to all technical and military means during the three months of the onslaught on civilian areas. Over the past 7 days, Turkish forces are conducting heavy artillery attacks on the areas where civilians are trapped.
People in neighborhoods are in the meantime refusing to leave their houses unless they are accompanied by a delegation through a humanitarian corridor as they cannot risk their lives to go out with their children amid the ongoing aggression.
