Syriac people support the hunger strike: Öcalan is our leader too

Syriac people from Amed and Mardin also visited the hunger strike activists demanding immediate meeting with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Syriacs supporting the hunger strike launched for Öcalan said they want to hear from Öcalan as soon as possible.

The indefinite-irreversible hunger strike launched with the demand that Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan be contacted immediately continues on its 5th day. 50 activists, including Kurdish politicians, writers, filmmakers, journalists and actors receive visitors in the morning hours.

Syriac people have visited the activists to show support as well. Syriacs who came from Amed and Mardin saluted the hunger strike activists.

HOBİL: ÖCALAN IS THE POWER OF PEACE FOR THE WORLD

Syriac Şabo Hobil said that Syriac, Kurdish and Mesopotamian peoples were afraid of losing their Leader, and that the Turkish state was trying to eradicate the Kurds. Hobil pointed out that the isolation imposed upon Öcalan put all Mesopotamian people in a difficult situation, and continued: "Nobody knows what happened to him or what he's doing. Here, we are offering support to this solidarity launched by the Kurdish people. The Syriac people have always said they want to live together with the Kurdish people in fraternity. Öcalan is a leader in my opinion. Her is the leader of the peoples of Mesopotamia and he is the force of peace for the world. All countries praise Öcalan, but those right next to him don't even see him. We demand our Leader be released immediately.

AKAY: ÖCALAN MEANS A LOT TO SYRIAC WOMEN

Syriac Women's Association administrator Barbera Akay said they came to support their Kurdish friends and that they want to hear from Öcalan. Stating that not hearing fon Öcalan and his status being unknown are causes for concern, Akay said, " Öcalan means a lot to Syriac women because he is a leader who wants peace. Mr. Öcalan means a lot to us. We wish success on our friends in the hunger strike and repeat that our only demand is to hear from Öcalan."

GABRIEL: LET'S SAY "STOP" TO THIS ISOLATION

Midyat Syriacs' Association Chairperson Yakop Gabriel said: "It's now time to say 'stop' to this isolation. We as the Syriac people both support this hunger strike, and say that we are ready for everything. We will be in solidarity for the fraternity of peoples."

ÖZDEMİR: SYRIACS ARE ALSO CONCERNED

Syriac Women's Association Deputy Chairperson Teodora Özdemir pointed out that it wasn't only The Kurdish people who were concerned for Kurdish People's Leader Öcalan, but the Syriac people too. Özdemir said the Kurdish and Syriac societies were in the struggle together and that they were fighting for freedom and peace.
