The Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement (TAJÊ) released a written statement concerning the Iraqi attacks on Shengal on April 18. The TAJÊ statement recalled that on August 3, 2014, the Iraqi and KDP forces left the Yazidis at the mercy of the genocidal attacks of ISIS.
TAJÊ noted that an agreement was signed by Baghdad, Hewlêr and Ankara against Shengal on October 9, 2019, saying that all the three forces involved are planning an attack in order to implement this plan.
TAJÊ stated that on April 18, military forces affiliated to the Baghdad government attacked the local Yazidi security units, Êzîdxan Asayish, in the village of Digurê. According to TAJÊ, it is not a "coincidence" that the Iraqi attack took place simultaneously with the new invasion attacks launched by the Turkish army against guerrilla-held Medya Defence Zones on April 17.
“The attack on Shengal is not independent of this dirty plan. The aim of the occupying Turkish state is to divide the lands of Kurdistan and Iraq. Unfortunately though, this is being done with the cooperation of the KDP forces,” the TAJÊ statement said.
The TAJÊ called on the government of al- Kadhimi to withdraw its "support for this dirty plan", and not to fall for the schemes of the KDP and the occupying Turkish state.
“We, like Yazidi mothers, will become human shields against attempts to destroy our people,” the TAJÊ concluded.
