Tens of thousands of people are celebrating the Kurdish New Year Newroz across Northern Syria and Rojava.

QAMISHLO

Thousands of people from all ethnicities came together to light the Newroz fire and celebrate the day. After martyrs' mothers lit the Newroz fire, compiled voice recordings of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan speaking on Newroz were played to the crowd.

The Newroz celebration in Hesekê participated by thousands began with a moment of silence, after which mothers of martyrs lit the Newroz fire.

Syrian Democratic Council Co-president Ilham Ehmed made the opening remarks of the celebration, and a cinevision featuring Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's remarks on Newroz was presented to the crowd. Celebrations continue.

Thousands gathered at the Newroz area in front of the Martyr Bawer Rojava Youth Union Center in Dêrik. People celebrating Newroz in tradition Kurdish clothes, bringing the colors of Newroz together with history, and carried flags of Rojava-Northern Syria.

War veterans and families of martyrs started the celebrations as they lit the Newroz fire.

Thousands living in Efrîn Canton gathered at the Newroz area where mothers of martyrs lit the Newroz fire after a moment of silence. Later, a cinevision featuring Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's remarks on Newroz was presented to the crowd.

ALEPPO

Newroz was celebrated for the first time since the liberation of east Aleppo from gang groups. Thousands of people participated in the celebration held with the motto “We salute the resistance of North Kurdistan with the spirit of Federal Northern Syria Newroz.” The celebration began as mothers of martyrs lit the Newroz fire.

YPG commander Nûrî Yekta made the opening remarks of the celebration. Newroz area has been decorated with YPJ-YPG flags and the posters of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, of the people that died in the mountains of Kurdistan, and Arab Martyr Aziz and Meryem al-Azrai.

TIRBESPIYÊ

Newroz celebration Martyr Yekta Culture and Arts Academy in Tirbespiyê city is being attended by thousands. Mothers of martyrs lit the Newroz fire, after which voice recordings of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan speaking on Newroz were played to the crowd.

The celebration continues with the performances of artists from the Xêzil Cultural Centre.
