TEV-DEM Executive Council issued a written statement on the Turkish state’s occupation and condemned the massacres the Turkish state and Erdoğan carried out in the villages of Jarablus. TEV-DEM offered its condolences to the people of the region, commemorated the people martyred here and reiterated that the memories of the martyrs would be the foundation of a historic victory.
In its statement, TEV-DEM recalled that the occupant Turkish state has had plans over Rojava and Syria since the beginning of the Syrian revolution, and Erdoğan has wanted to occupy the region just like how Yavuz Sultan Selim wanted to do the same with his 1516 War of Marj Dabiq. TEV-DEM noted that fascist Erdoğan views himself as the 5th Caliph and has shown this as he coincided the occupation of Jarablus on the day Marj Dabiq War started centuries ago. Emphasizing the dangerous effects of the Ottoman state’s occupant character upon Middle Eastern societies, TEV-DEM said that Erdoğan’s enmity was not only towards the Kurds but also Arabs, Assyrians, Turkmen and other societies in the Middle East. TEV-DEM underlined that fascist Erdoğan and the occupant Turkish state views Middle Eastern and Arab countries as their own provinces, and described Erdoğan’s action as attempts against the march for freedom and democracy in the Middle East.
TEV-DEM stated that the Turkish state and Erdoğan, who have always supported ISIS gangs and played a major role in the massacres in Paris, Brussels, Ankara, Amed and Dilok, are not only targeting Jarablus but also the will and existence of Arab, Assyrian and other peoples in the region. The council noted that Erdoğan and the AKP had shown their dirty intensions when they used ISIS gangs in their attack on Kobanê, but were upset when the world witnessed the joint struggle and victory of Kurdish, Arab, Assyrian and Turkmen people who protected the honor of humanity through their sacrifice. TEV-DEM described the occupation of Jarablus as an attack on humanity, and emphasized that Kurds would no longer allow international powers to victimize the Kurds but would instead defend their freedom and honor through their determination and mobilization.
Remarking that “It is not possible for Kurdish people to be the enemy of Arab or any other peoples in the Middle East, and would protect their existence and freedom with their honor”, TEV-DEM underlined Kurdish people’s right to defend their freedom and honor, saying they would never take a step backwards in their resistance for freedom.
The Council called upon everyone to acknowledge and show solidarity with the resistance of Kurdish people against ISIS and similar gangs, and warned international powers to not implement their plans vis a vis Kurdish people but instead take a stance against the occupant approach of the Turkish state.
TEV-DEM called upon Arab, Assyrian and Turkmen peoples to show solidarity with Kurdish people and resist the Turkish state’s occupation of Syria together. The Council also called upon Kurdish people inside and outside Rojava to enhance their struggle and mobilize against the massacres of the Turkish state and Erdoğan. Emphasizing the need for exposing the cruelty of Erdoğan and his massacres, the Council invited everyone to support the righteous cause of Kurdish people and take collective action in a determined manner.
