Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Co-Presidency issued a statement on the anniversary of the July 14 resistance and said, “On July 14, 1982 in the Diyarbakir Military Prison No.5, a great action that changed history for Kurdistan, Turkey and the Middle East took place. We remember with respect and gratitude Mehmet Hayri Durmuş, Kemal Pir, Akif Yılmaz and Ali Çiçek, who were martyred in this great death fast. Their revolutionary spirit and fighting style will liberate Kurdistan and democratize all of the Middle East.”

JULY 14 ACTION DEFEATED SEPTEMBER 12 FASCISM

The KCK statement is as follows:

“The Junta who carried out the fascist military coup on September 12, 1980 wanted to bury the PKK in the concrete of the dungeons in the person of the prisoners in Diyarbakir. They would thus destroy the people’s hopes for freedom and put the Kurds through genocide. September 12 fascism was to deal the final blow to Kurds and turn Kurdistan into an expansion area for Turkish nation building. The resisters in the great death fast saw this vile goal and carried out one of the greatest actions in history. Leading cadres of the PKK defeated the goals of September 12 with their martyrdom and achieved an ideological victory against it. September 12 fascism could not remain in power after the martyrdom of these great revolutionaries.

The July 14 resistance created the style of the Kurdistan revolution, namely resistance and victory under harsh circumstances, and ended the dark fate of the Kurdish people. From then on, the Kurdish people had the method of struggle to achieve freedom. When fought with this style of struggle, the free life of the people of Kurdistan will be achieved. Despite all attacks, if the PKK can develop the struggle for freedom in Kurdistan and achieve great gains, what makes it possible is fighting with the style of the Kurdistan revolution.

JULY 14 RESISTERS BECAME THE SPIRIT AND SUCCESS STYLE OF GUERRILLA RESISTANCE

July 14 resisters gave the greatest support to Leader Apo’s efforts to start the guerrilla war under the conditions of September 12 fascism, accelerated the return to the country and played a historic role in August 15 coming to pass. They showed people with their resistance in the dungeons that it is possible to fight and win under the harshest circumstances, and became the spirit and success style of the guerrilla resistance.

Today the AKP-MHP fascism has enacted a fascist coup against the peoples of Kurdistan, Turkey and the Middle East. Right now, a more extensive version of the September 12 fascist coup is in place. In the face of this fascist coup, what will carry our peoples to victory is again the July 14 spirit and resistance. Like they resisted under the extremely difficult circumstances and defeated September 12 fascism, when people resist with the spirit of the July 14 resistance, the AKP-MHP fascism will fall. The Kurdistan revolution’s style is one of struggle and victory under harsh conditions, and no despotism or tyranny can stand against it. If September 12 fascism could be defeated, its copy and caricature Tayyip Erdogan and the AKP-MHP fascism will too.

THE SPIRIT OF JULY 14 WILL PREVAIL

The people will resist with the spirit of July 14 and defeat the Dehaq of the day, the Kenan Evren of the day, Tayyip Erdoğan and show him what kind of a people and a freedom movement he is faced with. Tayyip Erdoğan’s throne and crown will crumble with the struggle our peoples will wage with the spirit of July 14. Those who fight with the spirit of July 14 and the style of the Kurdistan revolution are invincible. Today our people and our freedom movement are displaying a historic resistance through the style of fighting under harsh conditions and prevailing. The spirit of July 14 has permeated the cells of the Kurdish people and laid down roots in the water, land and air of Kurdistan. With the struggle for freedom that has continued for decades, the Kurdish people and Kurdistan have turned into a monument of resistance against tyranny. However harsh the attacks may be, the spirit of July 14 will prevail and genocidal colonialism will fall.

As we congratulate the day of national honor for our people and Leader Apo, we call on all Kurdish youth, women, children, the elderly, and all forces of democracy to raise the struggle with the invincible spirit of July 14 and create the Free Kurdistan, Democratic Turkey and Democratic Middle East.”
