Despite the cold weather, thousands of people have gathered at the Newroz area in Van with their traditional clothes and HDP-DBP banners.

Enthusiasm grew at the Newroz area as hours passed with thousands singing freedom songs and holding HDP-DBP banners at the celebration area where ESP and SGDF members are also present to celebrate Newroz with their banners.

The celebration began with a moment of silence, after which HDP Deputy Co-president Nadir Yıldırım, İmralı Delegation Spokesperson Sırrı Süreyya Önder, DBP Co-president Gülcihan Şimşek, HDP Van Co-chairs Yakup Ataş and Gülistan Organ, DBP Van Co-president Ahmet Aygün, HDP Van parliamentarians Bedia Özgökçe Ertan and Adem Geveri, and the former Edremit Co-mayor Rojbin Çetin greeted the people.

HDP Van Co-chair Yakup Ataş addressed the crowd and stated that Newroz is people's day of freedom when people have shown once again that they will not give up on their freedom despite all obstacles and bans.

The Newroz celebration continues with musical performances.
