Three members of the HDP Youth Assembly have been imprisoned in the province of Van. Ferhat Azan, Çetin Temel and Rojin Varhan are accused of terrorist propaganda on digital networks. The three activists had been in custody since last Friday after being arrested during raids by Turkish anti-terror police units.

A total of fifteen arrests on the same charge were made in Van three days ago at the instigation of the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. On Monday, the court ordered twelve of the detainees to be released on condition of reporting to the police. No information is available on the content of the incriminated posts, which Azan, Temel and Varhan are alleged to have written on online networks.

There were also waves of arrests in other cities on Friday. At last count, there was talk of 102 people being detained. In Amed (tr. Diyarbakir) alone, 59 people were taken into custody. Among them is JinNews journalist Beritan Canözer.
