While the Turkish state continues its intense and heavy attacks in an attempt to seize the Tishrin Dam, fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the People’s Protection Units (YPG), and the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) are carrying out historical resistance. The attacks are being repelled with great determination and resilience.
Commander Serxwebûn Kobanê provided an update on the situation at the Tishrin Dam, highlighting that the fighters have been engaged in uninterrupted clashes for seven consecutive days. He said: "Even before this, YPG and YPJ fighters displayed unprecedented resistance against the occupying forces. It is well-known worldwide that the YPG is a professional force. Those surrounding the dam are the same forces that believed they could occupy Syrian lands within a few days. Just as ISIS tried to instill fear among the people with their convoys, shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ for propaganda purposes, these occupying forces have attempted to advance using similar methods."
The commander added: "The freedom fighters have thwarted their propaganda. Faced with the presence of these fighters, the invaders have been left helpless. The 12-day resistance at the Tishrin Dam was a struggle unlike any other. Just as the YPG defeated ISIS in 2014 and liberated the peoples of the world from darkness, they are demonstrating the same strength today. For six days, attacks on the dam have persisted, yet our fighters have never retreated, not even for a moment. The professional forces of the YPG are now fully engaged, repelling the occupying Turkish state militias. Although it may appear that these attacks are advancing, none of our fighters have left their positions. On the contrary, our fighters are inflicting even heavier blows on the enemy forces."
Commander Serxwebûn Kobanê underlined that the Turkish state’s claims in the media about capturing the Tishrin Dam are false. He concluded with the following remarks: "The propaganda spread by the Turkish state in the media, claiming they have seized the dam, is baseless. The dam remains under our control. Our people should not be influenced by Turkish propaganda but instead trust our fighters and forces. As long as a single fighter remains at the Tishrin Dam, the dam will stay in our hands."
