Xerabê Bava resident Abdi Aykut, who was tortured and detained by state forces, has been taken back to police station before the completion of his treatment at hospital.
57-year-old Abdi Aykut was taken into custody after torture by state forces in Xerabê Bava village of Mardin's Nusaybin district which remains under the siege of Turkish forces for 17 days.
Aykut was tortured by state forces and then left in the garden of his house on February 17. After two days during which he remained fainted in the garden, state forces took him into custody. The man was suffering critical medical problems as he was detained, after which he was taken to hospital.
There was no news about Aykut since that date, until a photo showing his tortured face, taken while he was held at police department, emerged on February 22. It was later found out that the man was being held at the Plastic Surgery Department of Mardin State Hospital. Aykut was taken back to police station today before his treatment was finalized.
“THEY ARE DRIVING MY HUSBAND TO DEATH”
Speaking to ANF, Aykut's wife Vetha Aykut said that the state continued to torture her husband.
Vetha Aykut stated that Turkish Interior Minister pointed her husband as a target after the emergence of his photo, saying: "They took him from home and tortured him, and they later denied his detention. And now, they have taken him back to police station before his treatment was completed. This happened after the Minister targeting my husband. They are driving him to death."
Aykut demanded that her husband be immediately taken to hospital and receive proper treatment, adding: "The last time my daughter saw him at hospital, she said he was in a much worse condition than was seen on the photo. He has not recovered yet and his forced transfer to police station means his death."
