In the Kurdish city of Şırnak where a curfew, demolition and plundering by the state continues since March 14, Co-mayor Serhat Kadırhan has been removed from office by the Interior Ministry today.

The notification on Kadırhan's removal was submitted not to himself but Deputy Co-mayor Şirin Kılınç as she was outside the municipality out of working hours. Kılınç said she was threatened with legal action in the event that she did not accept to get the notification, and she was forced to sign the notification paper.

Soon after the removal of the Co-mayor, Deputy Governor Turan Bedirhanoğlu has been appointed to the municipality as a trustee.
