Trustee appointed to the DBP-held Ağrı Municipality

The government has appointed a trustee to the DBP-held Ağrı Municipality after the suspension of Co-mayor Sırrı Sakık earlier today.

Co-mayor of the Municipality of Ağrı province held by the Democratic Regions' Party (DBP), Sırrı Sakık has been suspended by the Turkish Ministry of the Interior earlier today. The other co-mayor, Mukaddes Kübilay is jailed since December 28, 2016.

After the suspension, Sakık has been informed in the afternoon that Ağrı Governor Musa Işın has been appointed trustee in his place. After the notification, police forces laid a siege around the municipal building.

The government of Turkey has usurped a total of 77 DBP-held municipalities in the recent process of crackdown against Kurdish people, their institutions and elected representatives.
