Trustee wants former co-mayors to pay the already paid salaries

The trustee appointed to Van’s Özalp district decided to get the previous salaries of municipal employees from the former DBP co-mayors of the municipality.

After appointing trustees to DBP municipalities, the AKP government now wants former co-mayors to pay the salaries of municipal employees.

Based on the audit report of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the trustee appointed to Van’s Özalp district, Serdar Karal, claimed that temporary workers received unlawful payments in the past and decided that former co-mayors Murat Durmaz and Handan Bağcı pay the total amount of 677 million TL, in the former TL monetary system.

Murat Durmaz’s lawyer Emrah Aslan stated that they took Karal’s decision, which he described as illegal, to court.
