Federation of Prisoners Families Law and Solidarity Associations (TUHAD-FED) released the final declaration of its 30th General Assembly. In the declaration, TUHAD-FED emphasized the state of emergency and the AKP government’s attacks on Kurdish people and their institutions over the past 4 months under the excuse of "fighting against coups."
TUHAD-FED administrator Dilek Özer read out the final declaration and said that the AKP government’s pressures and attacks on Kurdish people and their organizations have become worse than the attacks during the September 12 Coup. Özer also underlined the intensified isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, and criticized the AKP government for insisting on and deepening the 90-year-old policies of denial and destruction. Özer described Öcalan as the only solution of the Kurdish issue, and demanded Öcalan’s release and the improvement of prison conditions.
TUHAD-FED Co-President Mehmet Temizyüz also addressed the participants of the general assembly and criticized the violations of prisoners’ human rights in Turkey. Temizyüz recalled that political prisoners in Şırnak Prison have been on an indefinite and irreversible hunger strike for the past 6 days, and demanded that the bans in Şırnak are lifted, the town’s residents are resettled, and the conditions of the prison be improved.
