Tuncel: We will continue the resistance whatever the consequences

Detention period for DBP Co-chair Sebahat Tuncel has been extended for 24 hours.

Detention period has been extended for 24 hours for DBP Co-chair Sebahat Tuncel who was forcibly taken into custody in front of Diyarbakır Courthouse yesterday afternoon as HDP Co-chairs and deputies gave their statements.

Another person detained alongside Tuncel and held in custody together with her has stated the followings:

"We were put in a same room with Sebahat Tuncel. She was in continuous resistance against the police that maltreated her. Even when the repression was at highest level, she objected to body search to be performed near the men held there. She shouted out that this was harassment. After continued efforts, she managed to make police conduct the body search on detained women separately from men. As police selected her file from ours, she turned to us with a smile on her face, and said "They will probably arrest me. It was obvious that they would do so. Yet, they can not make us fear them. We will continue the resistance whatever the consequences, comrade. We will win.”
