Türk: We didn't bow down during the 90'ies, nor will we do so now

Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Ahmet Türk stated that AKP has been defeated by Kurds and attacked the Kurdish people for this reason.

After jailing Amed Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı, the AKP government has now seized the municipality by appointing a trustee from Ankara.

Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Ahmet Türk remarked that the AKP government wanted to end the Kurdish politic and parties, stressing that Kurds did not bow down during the 90'ies, and will not do so now either.

"AKP'S GOAL IS TO BECOME ONE PARTY BY SILENCING THE KURDISH OPPOSITION"

Stressing that the Kurdish movement is the peoples' only alternative against the AKP and Palace ruling, Türk said the AKP government wanted to become one party by attacking the will of the Kurdish people. Türk underlined that AKP wanted to silence everyone, Kurds in the first place, that resist its atrocity, noting that the coup against Kurdish parties and municipalities was staged on this basis.

"AKP ATTACKS KURDS WHO DEFEATED IT"

According to Türk, AKP's appointment of a trustee to Amed Municipality after the imprisonment of co-mayors was intended to give the message "We will silence your will, mayors and deputies" to the Kurdish people.

Türk described these attacks as a consequence of the AKP's defeat by the Kurdish people both inside and outside its borders, saying: "AKP is now doing what it has failed to do officially, and it is targeting the Kurdish political movement with an attack aiming to end the politics entirely."

Türk emphasised that AKP will insist on its policies of war and denial, which will bring along further attacks, adding that the Kurdish people will resist this process to the end.

"WE WILL NOT BOW DOWN AS WE DID DURING THE 90'IES"

Türk pointed to the probability of a trustee appointment to Mardin Municipality as well, saying the following: "During the 90'ies, we deputies were forcibly taken out of the Parliament, in the same way we are being removed from municipalities and arrested today. We did not bow down then, and we won't do so now either, for sure!

AKP knows that these policies had been implemented before and yielded no results. However, the AKP government, defeated by the Kurds, is now trying to achieve a result by use of force instead of choosing democracy. This will have no affect on the Kurds."
