Turkey digs a trench between Nusaybin and Qamishlo

Turkish army has once again started to dig a trench at its border to Rojava.

While works have started to dig a trench between Mardin's Nusaybin district and Rojava's Qamishlo city, soldiers keep guard in the border area with armored vehicles. The trench is aimed to cut off the connection between Bakur (North) and Rojava (West) Kurdistan but is grounded on the claim “to hinder illegal border trade and unlawful border crossing”.

The Turkish state made similar attempts some two years ago, both digging trenches and building walls which Kurds called “wall of shame” and protested.
