In an effort to implicate the YPG in the blast in Ankara where 28 people died, Turkey made a scandalous move. Turkey called upon the 5 permanent members of the UN and mobilized its diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Relations in order to accuse the YPG for the blast. Turkish officials had held a meeting yesterday with the 5 permanent members of the UN, German and Dutch ambassadors as well as EU representatives regarding the blast in Ankara.
According to a Wall Street Journal article, a non-Turkish diplomat who participated in yesterday’s meeting stated that Turkish officials suggested that the explosive mechanism used in Ankara resembled the mechanism of the explosion that took place in Diyarbakır’s Çınar district last month in order to blame the YPG.
The diplomat said that Turkish officials called for international support but failed to produce proofs that linked YPG directly with the attack. The diplomat said that the information they received had some technical connections but failed to shed light on the history of the attacker. Turkish president Erdoğan and Prime Minister Davutoğlu had argued that YPG was the perpetrator of the blast in Ankara.
