Turkish troops have launched an operation in Şemdinli district of Hakkari late Thursday evening.

The operation which mainly intensifies in Çelareş area of Şapatan (Altınsu) village is joined by dozens of soldiers accompanied by a large number of armored vehicles in addition to reinforcements at intervals.

In the meantime, soldiers have raided the house of a local, Kazım Elmas, whose brother previously fell fighting in the ranks of the PKK. Elmaz was detained and taken to district gendarme command where he testified. He was later released.
