HPG Media Center released a written statement reporting ongoing bombardment of guerrilla areas by the Turkish army. In its statement, HPG provided the following details regarding the Turkish attacks against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory.
Turkish soldiers based in the Bilican and Eriş military posts in Hakkari’s Çukurca district bombarded the Martyr Newal, Martyr Colemerg, Martyr Dünya, Martyr Karwan, Talısa, Garêya Piçuk and Xeregol hills in Zap region between 14:00 and 15:00 on February 16. Soldiers from Bilican military post also bombarded Martyr Alişer Hill in Avashin region.
HPG noted that soldiers from Hill Yekmal military post bombarded Heftanin region between 23:30 and 00:00 on February 16, and between 05:00 and 05:30 on February 17. Soldiers from Tepê Vacip military post bombarded Derîyê Davetiya region on February 17.
HPG stated that soldiers from Aruş military post bombarded Martyr Dilber hill between 11:30 and 12:00. Soldiers from the Osyan military post in Siirt bombarded Mêrgumarê region and Herekol hill between 17:00 and 18:00 on February 16.
AERIAL ACTIVITIES CONTINUE
HPG Media Center stated that Turkish drones carried out surveillance flights over;
- Qandil region between 09:00 and 22:00 on February 16,
- Garê region between 18:00 on February 16 and 05:00 on February 17,
- Zap region between 15:00 on February 16 and 07:00 on February 17, and
- Heftanin region between 06:00 and 09:00 on February 17.
HPG said that Turkish warplanes flew over Medya Defense Areas’ Heftanin region between 01:00 and 03:00 on February 17, and Turkish drones flew over Mardin’s Bagok region between 11:00 and 19:00 on February 16. Drones have also been flying over Botan’s Besta region for the past week.
