Turkish soldiers raid house of condolence for fallen guerrilla

Turkish soldiers raided the condolence house for Şehnaz Okşamak, a fallen member of the People's Defense Forces (HPG). The soldiers confiscated the chairs and fined five people.

Local people expressed their condolences to Okşamak family in the Alibey (Mîreliya) neighborhood of Amed's Silvan district for a former HPG female fighter, Şehnaz Okşamak who was martyred in an air attack in South Kurdistan on September 25, 2020. On April 17, the Okşamak family accepted the condolences of the people who came to their house. The family placed chairs in an open area for the visitors.

Turkish soldiers raided the condolence house at around 13:00 on April 20 and took the statements of five family members.

INSULT AND CASH FINE

It is reported that the soldiers insulted the family members. Furthermore, a gendarmerie commander threatened the local people.

The soldiers gathered up the chairs that had been placed in the open area and took them to the police station. The chairs were brought back 2 hours later and handed over to the family.

The five people whose statements were taken in the neighborhood were later summoned to the gendarmerie station. It is reported that five family members were fined a total of 7 thousand TL for alleged violations of the pandemic measures.
