Popular self-defense units have strongly responded to the state forces that attempted to enter Nur and Cudi neighborhoods of Şırnak's Cizre district Saturday evening.

A huge blast occurred as tanks and armored vehicles attempted to advance into Nur neighborhood from Akaydın and Kurami streets amid clashes in the evening. The blast left an armored vehicle completely destroyed, while the police and soldiers in it also died, according to reports.

Following the explosion, Turkish forces deployed in the district targeted the neighborhood with artillery fire, which left many houses damaged and on fire. While state forces retreated from the neighborhood in the wake of clashes that lasted nearly an hour, casualties and parts of the destroyed armored vehicle were removed from the area.

Another armored vehicle of Turkish forces was destroyed upon attempting to enter into Cudi neighborhood from Hill Cahferi Sadik area. While the vehicle was tied behind a tank and taken from the scene, casualties have reportedly been carried to Şırnak in helicopters.
