On the evening of January 23, Turkish warplanes bombed an area near the Reshawa village in Duhok’s Deralok region. Two Kurdish civilians were killed as a result of Turkish bombardment, while two others are still missing.
In an interview with the NRT, Deralok villagers stated that four civilians were targeted by Turkish airstrikes last night, two of them were killed and the fate of other two is still unknown.
The four civilians, all from the Rekane tribe, were reportedly targeted while fishing in the region. Local people went to the scene after the bombardment. They came across two dead bodies that were later buried in Deralok.
The villagers said it was not the first time that Turkish army bombed their villages. Asked if the bombardment was carried out against PKK’s guerrilla presence in the area, the villagers denied that PKK was present in the region targeted by Turkish warplanes.
“We urge the Turkish state to stop bombing our villages, we also ask the parliament of the KRG to immediately discuss the subject and prevent reoccurrence of similar incidents,” a villager told the NRT.
