People's Defense Forces Press Office HPG-BIM reported in a written statement yesterday that operations and airstrikes of the Turkish military against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones continue expanding.
HPG-BIM stated that the areas of Zap, Metina, Gare, Haftanin, Avashin and Xakurke were intensely shelled by Turkish aircraft at the night of 11-12 December.
Describing the attacks as the most expansive airstrikes of the recent process, HPG said two civilians by the name of Hurşit Ölmez and Macit Ölmez who were on a visit in guerrilla areas as guests lost their lives as a result of the bombardments.
HPG offered condolences to the families of two civilians from Şifrezan village of Şırnak's Uludere district, and underlined that guerrillas will put up strongest resistance in response to the attacks aimed at Kurdish people.
In the meantime, bodies of two civilians, who were earning their lives with border trade, have been handed over to local people near the border of Medya Defense Zones.
Hundreds of people living in the area accompanied the bodies of Hurşit Ölmez and Macit Ölmez on the way to Uludere State Hospital where the two civilians will undergo a post-mortem examination before being transferred to Şırnak State Hospital.
