Two helicopters damaged, seven soldiers killed in Çarçela

Turkish army started an operation on Çarçela area in guerrilla zones yesterday. Seven soldiers were killed and two helicopters were damaged during clashes between guerrillas and soldiers.

Turkish army launched an air-supported operation on Çarçela area of guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory yesterday. Sporadic clashes are taking place between guerrillas and soldiers that were airdropped into the area.

According to local sources, guerrillas damaged a Sikorsky helicopter as it was about to airdrop soldiers on a hill in Çarçela area at around 05.00 Saturday morning. The helicopter left the area without completing the mission.

HPG/YJA Star guerrillas targeted the soldiers airlifted and deployed on a hill last night, which left 6 soldiers dead.

Early Sunday morning, guerrillas targeted and damaged another Sikorsky helicopter that similarly attempted to airdrop soldiers on a hill in the area.

During clashes in this area, 1 soldier was killed and 2 others were wounded.

In the meantime, Turkish fighter jets are bombing the operation area ceaselessly since yesterday.

Reports suggest that clashes are ongoing.
