The Civilian Defense Units (YPS) issued a statement and said, “On July 14, two valiant sons of our people, comrades Numan and Serhildan, displayed a great resistance against the fascist AKP-MHP gangs in the Sixke street of the Ipekyolu neighborhood in Van until their last bullets, and ascended to martyrdom.”
The statement said the clashes started at 02:30 at night and continued into the morning. The YPS said, “Here our comrades Numan and Serhildan dealt great blows to the AKP-MHP gangs. Two special operations members were killed and six others were wounded in the intense clashes, where our comrades displayed a great resistance.”
YPS gave their condolences to the families of Numan and Serhildan and all the Kurdish people and said, “We promise the blood of our martyrs will be avenged.”
According to the ID information they provided, Metin Ünalmış (code name Numan Serhat) was born in Van in 1990. Bilal Şimşek (code name Serhildan Ararat) was born in Agrı in 1992.
The statement also said: “The Civilian Defense Units of our society against AKP-MHP fascism, our YPS forces make themselves the shields against the genocide they want to implement in Kurdistan. Our units display a great resistance and repeat their promise always to continue their fight until fascism is ripped out of these lands. On this basis, our struggle will not end until “The End will be glorious”, on the path Çiyager left us as his legacy.”
