Up to 37-year prison sentence is sought for jailed HDP MP Leyla Birlik due to press briefings, demonstrations and funerals she attended in Şırnak province.
Indictment has been prepared against HDP Şırnak MP Leyla Birlik who was arrested and put in Silivri Prison on November 4.
In the indictment which was prepared by Şırnak Public Prosecutor Mehmet Patlak and approved by Şırnak High Criminal Court, 15- up to 37 year prison sentence is sought for Birlik on grounds of 10 separate press briefings, demonstrations and funerals she attended in Şırnak in 2015 and 2016.
The indictment also demands that Birlik be deprived of her right to elect and be elected, and accuses her of "being member to a terrorist organization", "openly provoking the public to animosity and enmity", "uttering threats in the name of crime organizations", "defamation", "organizing and managing unlawful meetings and demonstrations".
The first hearing in the case will be held in Şırnak on January 4, 2017.
