US delegation in Southern Kurdistan for official talks

A delegation led by USA Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Hewler, Southern Kurdistan.

A delegation including US President Barack Obama’s Special Presidential Envoy Brett McGurk has arrived in Hewler.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East Joseph Pennington, USA Ambassador to Baghdad Douglas Silliman and Coalition Forces Commander Stephen Townsend are in the delegation.

The US delegation announced they will be meeting with Masoud Barzani and KDP officials.

The primary objective of the visit is the Mosul operation and what role the Peshmerga forces will play in the operation.
