Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Bekir Kaya was detained yesterday and was referred to court with a demand for his arrest after his statement procedures were completed in the prosecutor’s office.

Kaya was arrested on charges of “knowingly aiding a terrorist organization” in the court he appeared before.

Architect Zelal Tanlı was also arrested with the same allegations, while Public Works and Engineering Department Head M. Yalım Eryiğit, Support Services Department Head Cuma Köylüoğlu and construction technician Can Taylan were released on probation.
