Administration of the the municipality of Van's Bahçesaray district has been seized by District Governor Serhat Karabektaş. The municipalities of Van's Saray and Çaldıran districts were also usurped through trustees yesterday.
With the most recent assignments, all the 12 municipalities held by the DBP in Van and its districts have been usurped by the government and the co-mayors of these municipalities, including Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Bekir Kaya, are jailed.
More than 80 DBP-held municipalities have been seized by the government through trustees in the recent period of political genocide operations.
