The May Day rally will be held at Rıhtım Square in Istanbul’s Kadıköy district. The rally, organized under the slogan “We will win for labor, peace, democracy, and justice,” is being led by DISK (Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey), KESK (Confederation of Public Workers' Unions), TMMOB (Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects), and TTB (Turkish Medical Association).
Groups participating in the rally began gathering early in the morning at two points: Söğütlüçeşme Station and in front of Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital.
KESK, the DEM Party, HDK (Peoples' Democratic Congress), TJA (Free Women's Movement), and various women's and youth organizations gathered at Söğütlüçeşme. The crowd, preparing to enter the rally area with slogans such as “Shoulder to shoulder against fascism” and “There is no salvation alone,” carried numerous banners in Kurdish and Turkish.
Signs carrying a wide range of messages—from women’s liberation to demands for peace against war—drew attention, while the excitement has been steadily increasing as time passed.
DİSK, TTB, TMMOB, CHP (Republican People’s Party), and EMEP (Labour Party) gathered in front of Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital. The crowd, preparing to march with banners such as “We stand for our labor, our future, our democracy,” “Long live May Day,” and “Take our hand, let’s organize,” is getting ready to proceed with a high turnout.
The crowds gathered at both locations are expected to enter Rıhtım Square with processions starting at 11:00 a.m. During the rally, unions, political parties, women’s organizations, and youth groups are expected to raise a unified voice for “labor, justice, peace, and democracy.” With the growing crowd, the square is becoming a scene of unity and solidarity.
