In a written statement, the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) Command commemorated Zeki Şengali, who fell martyr as a result of the Turkish state's attack on 15 August 2018.
The YBŞ said in a written statement: "Turkey will not be able to break the will and alliance of the peoples of the region with the martyrdom of Mam Zeki. Today, thousands of people are following the footsteps of Mam Zeki. Our people must unite by following Mam Zeki's efforts.”
Noting that the PKK fired the first bullet against the Turkish state on 15 August 1984, the YBŞ emphasized that this date has an important place in the history of the people of Kurdistan.
The YBŞ also reminded that in addition to the breakthrough and heroism of 15 August 1984, massacres took place on the same day years later, and reminded that a brutal massacre took place in the villages of Tilezer and Siba Şêx Xidir on August 14, and the Koço massacre took place on 15 August 2014. Mam Zeki Şengali also fell martyr on 15 August 2018, the anniversary of the Kocho massacre.
