YBŞ and YJŞ Commanders met with the Consul of Hewler on December 12 to discuss the situation in Shengal. YBŞ and YJŞ command issued a written declaration on the subject.

The command announced that they held a meeting with Consul of Hewler Ken Gross in Shengal’s Serdeşt region on December 12. The announcement included that the Shengal People’s Assembly chair Xıdır Salih was also present at the meeting.

YJŞ and YBŞ Command gave the following information on the meeting:

“We discussed the fundamental issues in Shengal with the US Consul of Hewler, security, administration and living conditions. The meeting was positive and we consider it an important development in solving the issues in Shengal. It became clear in the meeting that some groups are spreading false information about YBŞ. Some circles introduced YBŞ as the PKK’s fighting force. We as the YBŞ are the defense force of the Êzidî people.”

YBŞ and YJŞ Command stated that meetings with representatives from the US will continue in the coming period.
