YJA Star guerrilla Bêrîtan Çiya said: "Just as comrade Zîlan turned herself into a ball of fire and shot the enemy in the heart, we, as her successors, will continue our struggle until the last drop of our blood and follow the spark she lit."
YJA Star guerrilla Bêrîtan Çiya commemorated martyr Zîlan (Zeynep Kınacı), who carried out a self-defense action in Dersim on 30 June 1996.
Guerrilla Çiya said that Martyr Zîlan took such an action because she saw the danger posed to the Kurdish people as well as to Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, and added: "The impact of comrade Zîlan's action continues today. The enemy acts with the fear of such actions every day. Martyr Zîlan had been a fighter for just one year. The connection of leader Abdullah Öcalan and the woman with the land can be clearly seen in comrade Zîlan."
Guerrilla Çiya continued: "As a revolutionary woman, comrade Zîlan became an inspiring figure for all of us. We, too, follow in the footsteps of commander Zîlan. Freedom guerrillas are still fighting against the enemy with the spirit of Zîlan. Our comrades who resisted in the war tunnels, comrade Avzem, comrade Bager, comrade Arîn, comrade Şerzan and others, are the followers of comrade Zîlan. They took Zîlan's personality and self-sacrificing spirit as an example and showed the Apoist line to the whole world."
Guerrilla Çiya said: "The struggle in the mountains of Kurdistan today is the continuation of Zîlan's line of sacrifice. Just as comrade Zîlan turned herself into a fireball and shot the enemy in the heart, we, as her successors, will continue our struggle until the last drop of our blood and make it even bigger. We keep comrade Zîlan alive and we will continue to do so. We promise that we will follow the spark lit by Martyr Zîlan."
