Young people in Batman, Van and Yüksekova protest appointment of trustees

Young people protested in the streets of Batman, Van and Yüksekova against the appointment of trustees.

The resistance of young people against the appointment of a truste in Batman (Êlih) continues for the 8th day. Young people took to the streets in many neighborhoods of the city and chanted slogans such as “Bijî Serok Apo”, “Bê Serok jiyan nabe”.

The police attacked the young people and smothered the neighborhoods with tear gas. The young people responded to the plastic bullets and TOMAs attack with stones and fireworks.

A delegation including Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) deputies, Batman Municipality co-chairs, TJA, Peace Mothers Assembly, DEM Party and DBP Batman Provincial Organizations, distributed leaflets in the neighborhoods to call for participation in the rally to be held at Basın Kavşası on 17 November.

Van

In many neighborhoods of Van (Wan), young people protested in the streets the appointment of trustees in Mardin, Batman and Halfeti.

The police attacked the young people who chanted slogans such as “Bijî Serok Apo”, “Bê Serok jiyan nabe”, “Bijî berxwedana zindana” and “Kurdistan will be the grave of fascism”. The young people set up barricades and lit fires in the neighborhoods, and responded to the police attack with stones and fireworks. The protests in the neighborhoods continued until late on Monday night.

Protests were also held in the Cumhuriyet, Esentepe, Kışla and Orman neighborhoods of the Yüksekova (Gever) district of Hakkari (Colemêrg).
