Youth of South Kurdistan: Attacks on İmralı must stop

Kurdistan Patriotic Youth Movement held a march in Kirkuk to protest to the isolation at İmralı and draw attention to the hunger strikes in Turkish prisons.

Young Kurdish people held a 2 hour-long march from Shorice neighborhood to Rahimawa neighborhood in Kirkuk to protest to the isolation at İmralı and draw attention to the hunger strikes in Turkish prisons.

The youth of South Kurdistan made a press statement after the march and called upon all Kurds to embrace Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the people resisting in Turkish prisons.

In their statement, the youth said the following:

“As the Patriotic Youth Movement in Kirkuk, we held a march to protest the isolation of our Leader and draw attention to the hunger strikes political prisoners across Turkey are carrying out.

Our Leader has been under heavy isolation for the past two years. As the Patriotic Youth Movement, we will take a tougher stance as long as this isolation continues. We will continue to disseminate our protests. Our goal here is also to draw attention to the hunger strikes in prisons. The goal of our prisoner comrades is to draw attention to the isolation of our Leader and end the isolation of Öcalan and the on-going torture in prisons.

As the youth of South Kurdistan, we would like our prisoner comrades to know that we are with them.
Similarly, we call upon all human rights organizations to break their silence on the policies of the fascist AKP government and Turkish state.

We also call upon our people in all four parts of Kurdistan, particularly the south, to stand up against these injustices.”
