University student Cihan Karaman on whom the ECtHR had ordered interim measure for access to treatment, has died due to a continued denial of access to hospital in Şırnak's Cizre district.

University student Cihan Karaman on whom the ECtHR had ordered interim measure for access to treatment, has died due to a continued denial of access to hospital in Şırnak's Cizre district where an onslaught by Turkish military and police forces has left 41 days behind.

Karaman got wounded as a result of fire by special operation police in Cizre's Cudi neighborhood yesterday noon. Suffering a heavy injury after getting shot in the chest, the youth couldn't be taken to hospital as Turkish authorities didn't allow an ambulance into the neighborhood to get him to hospital despite an interim measure by the European Court of Human Rights

An ambulance of Cizre Municipality tried to enter the neighborhood to get Karaman yesterday but was hindered by state forces with gunfire.

This morning, Karaman was taken to the house which was hit by a cannon shell last night, leaving 10 people wounded. Karaman has died Saturday evening while waiting for an ambulance alongside other wounded civilians. His body remains in the neighborhood.

While no news has been received from these people as of evening hours, Cizre People's Council co-chair Mehmet Tunç said to Med Nuçe TV that the ongoing artillery aggression on the area brought the number of wounded to 28.

Editor of Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat Rohat Aktaş and DBP Assembly Member Mehmet Yavuzer are among the wounded who are still waiting for an ambulance.
