A group of young people from South Kurdistan joined PKK ranks after the invasion attempt to occupy Shengal with an AKP-KDP cahoots, and called on the Kurdistan youth to join the guerrilla ranks.
More youths from South Kurdistan are joining the PKK ranks every day and their participation has remarkably increased during the recent process due to the KDP policies, Turkey's economical, political and social occupation of South Kurdistan, and the crisis resulting mainly from the KDP-AKP collaboration.
A group of young people from South Kurdistan that have joined the PKK ranks recently made a statement to express why they have decided to take part in the guerrilla struggle.
The new recruits stated the followings;
“The Baath regime was pushed out of South Kurdistan with the 1991-92 uprising but the Turkish state has replaced the Baath regime because of today's collaborative policies. The Turkish state's occupation is taking place in all military, political and social aspects of life. The alliance between the Turkish state and the KDP aims to occupy South Kurdistan entirely, with Qandil, Shengal, Kirkuk and Mosul being in the first place. As a group of young people, we have decided to join PKK ranks because of the occupation policies targeting primarily Qandil and Shengal. Our goal is to liberate entire South Kurdistan from the Turkey-KDP occupation. For this reason, we state that;
- As the grandchildren of Leyla Qasim and Mame Reshe, we will avenge the martyrs of South Kurdistan.
- PKK is the party of all four parts of Kurdistan; it is Turkish and Iranian forces that will leave South Kurdistan territories.
- We will make South Kurdistan a graveyard for the Turkish state's gangs just like how our ancestors made this land a graveyard for Saddam's gangs.
- We announce to the people of Shengal that we as the youth of South Kurdistan are ready to defend you against Turkish gangs and fall a martyr as Genco Hewler did.
- We call upon the youth from Zakho to Mendeli and Pishder to join the guerrilla ranks in order to end all the crisis and occupations.
- We call upon youth in four parts of Kurdistan to join the PKK ranks against the invading forces.
- Long Live Leader Apo, Long Live the Martyrs of Kurdistan, Long Live the Resistance of Shengal.”
