YPJ (Women's Defense Units) fighters Nujin Derîk and Rengin Cudî said that the Turkish state, Barzani and KDP were organizing the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) and Kurdish National Council (KNC) gangs’ attacks on Şêx Meqsud neighborhood. Derîk and Cudî noted that tens of civilians died and hundreds got injured due to the chemical weapons used during these attacks.

'PEOPLES’ COEXISTENCE TARGETED IN ŞÊX MEQSUD'

YPJ fighter Nujîn Derîk noted that Aleppo’s Şêx Meqsud neighborhood has been under heavy attacks recently, and is a diverse place despite its reputation as a Kurdish neighborhood.

Derîk stated that Armenians, Assyrians and members of other faiths and groups live alongside Kurdish people in Şêx Meqsud, and the neighborhood has been receiving and welcoming migrants from other parts of Aleppo and Syria. Derîk said that the main goal of SNC and KNC gangs was to destroy people’s coexistence with their attacks on civilians in Şêx Meqsud.

Derîk noted that the attacks of SNC and KNC gangs began during the first minutes of the ceasefire the US and Russia made, and has intensified since then. Derîk criticized the silence of the US and Russia regarding the attacks on Şêx Meqsud, and said that this silence shows that neither country wants a solution in Syria. Derîk stated that the US, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey were forcing Kurdish and other peoples in Şêx Meqsud to surrender, but recalled that Kurdish people chose to resist and would not evacuate the neighborhood. Lastly, Derîk called upon Kurdish and other peoples to join Syrian Democratic Forces and support the residents of Şêx Meqsud in order to stop the on-going barbaric attacks.

‘THE TURKISH STATE IS ORGANIZING THE ATTACKS ON ŞÊX MEQSUD NEIGHBORHOOD’

YPJ fighter Rengin Cudî described the attacks on Aleppo’s Şêx Meqsud neighborhood as immoral and said that the confessions of arrested gangs confirm that the Turkish state is organizing the attacks on the neighborhood. Cudî noted that SNC and KNC gangs have recently intensified their attacks, and tens of civilians died and hundreds got injured due to the chemical weapons used during these attacks.

Cudî said that the attacks on Şêx Meqsud bring Kurdish people and the YPG/YPJ closer to each other, and no attack could force an organized group of people to surrender. Cudî noted that they called upon the gangs to not lay their arms but at least fight morally, since they have been targeting and massacring women and children on purpose.

CALL TO THE PUBLIC AND THE PEOPLE OF ŞÊX MEQSUD

YPJ fighter Rengin Cudî called upon Kurdish and other peoples to support the residents of Şêx Meqsud and said that as YPJ fighters, they would never abandon the people of Şêx Meqsud and gain victory through more mobilization and resistance. Lastly, Cudî stated that YPJ fighters would not give passage to fascism and continue to protect Damascus, Aleppo, Kobanê, Efrîn and Cizîr from the attacks and massacres of the SNC and KNC.
