YPS set fire to prison bus in Amed

The Şehîd Zelal Xerzan retaliation unit set fire to a prison bus in Amed.

Political prisoners die almost weekly in Turkish custody. Seriously ill prisoners in particular are not treated and are thus sent to their deaths step by step. There is resistance to this. Besides vigils and protests, there are also militant actions carried out in protest.

YPS SET FIRE TO BUS

At 1.24 a.m. on 17 October, the Civil Defense Units (YPS) struck a prison administration bus in Amed (tr. Diyarbakir), which is used to transport guards and political prisoners. Activists smashed the windows of the bus and set fire to the unoccupied bus. Video released by the YPS shows the fire spreading inside the vehicle.

“WE WILL CONTINUE ACTIONS”

In a statement about the action, the Şehîd Zelal Xerzan retaliation unit of the YPS said: "The fascist AKP/MHP regime is carrying out an all-out attack on all Kurds who stand up for freedom. The resistance fighters imprisoned in jails are tortured without any respect for the law. The AKP/MHP regime is worsening the prison conditions every day, so that prisoners die in prison. Our action was against the inhumane decisions, attitude and attacks that the enemy shows towards the political prisoners. As YPS and YPS-JIN, we will continue our actions against the torture and killings of the AKP/MHP regime."
