YRK commander Erdal Amed from the Mariwan city in East Kurdistan fell a martyr in a Turkish UAV attack on June 4.
The Turkish state bombed Mount Asos on 3 and 4 June. The UAV attack at 8 p.m. on June 4 was directed against YRK guerrillas who were carrying out their duties near the village of Gelale.
The village of Gelale is located in the town of Mawet, which is situated at the foothills of Mount Asos. Air strikes by Turkey in violation of international law have been routine for years in the region, which lies a good 200 kilometres from the Turkish state border. Other areas of the territory of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and Iraq, especially those where Kurdish guerrillas are suspected, but also civilian settlement areas such as Shengal, are also regularly bombed by the Turkish army.
In a written statement on Wednesday, the Defence Forces of Eastern Kurdistan (YRK) Press Office announced the identity information of a fighter who was martyred in the Turkish attack on June 4:

For several years, he engaged in organizational work and led many fighters to join the struggle. After the Iranian regime’s exposure of his activities, he left his family with two children without hesitation and joined the guerrilla troops in 2013. As a YRK guerrilla, he worked in many areas in East Kurdistan and fulfilled his duty within the party with great enthusiasm,” YRK stated.
“After receiving training in Asos in 2022, he started his duty as a successful commander. With his perfect, intelligent, plain and honest personality, he was loved by all his companions. To him, the national struggle stood above everything. He remained resolute to the very end and strengthened his devotion until his martyrdom.”
YRK reiterated their promise to the martyrs to follow in their footsteps to the end to never allow the invading Turkish state and Iranian regime to achieve their goals.
