A suspect who was detained in relation to the twin bomb attack at the HDP rally in Amed on 4 June has been remanded in custody.

Diyarbakır (Amed) Public Prosecutor’s Office has issued a written statement regarding the investigation into the double bomb attack at the HDP rally at Istasyon Square on 4 June.

The statement said that a suspect, O.G, who was detained on 6 June and taken to Amed Police Headquarters, was first referred to Public Prosecutor’s Office for his testimony and then to Diyarbakir Peace Court, where he has been formally arrested.

The statement said that the suspect interrogated in Diyarbakır Peace Court, has been formally arrested on 10 June on grounds of deliberate murder (3 times) and being member of an armed terrorist organisation, adding that O.G has been sent to prison following the procedures at the court.

The statement of the Prosecutor’s Office also reported that an investigation has been started regarding the news that appeared on two local newspapers on 08.06.2015 and 09.06.2015, and the reporters who prepared the news, and the public officers who provided the information to the newspapers.

The statement finally said a meticulous investigation into the bomb attacks is continuing and those who might have contributed to and took part in the attack are being investigated in detail.
