1 more death after counter attacks in Amed

The death toll in HUDA-PAR members’ attacks on HDP sympathizer civilians on the streets of Amed, following the assassination of IHYA-DER president, has increased to 4.

Following an armed attack that targeted the president of İHYA-DER, known with close ties to the radical Islamist Hüda-Par (Free Cause Party), supporters of HUDA-PAR party opened fire on Sisê teahouse and other workplaces in Şehitlik neighbourhood. 3 people who were hospitalized after suffering injuries in the attack have lost their lives last night.

The counter forces, accompanied and backed by police forces, went on opening fire until late hours in the city and shot one more person, 40 year old Fesih Çınar, in front of a bakery in Amed’s Sur district. Çınar was taken to Dicle University Hospital where efforts to save his life failed.

In the meantime, the three people who lost their lives in the bloody attacks of last night in Şehitlik neighbourhood, Bayram Dağtan, Bayram Özelçi and Emin Ensen, will be laid to rest today in Yenişehir cemetery in Amed.

The bodies of these three people have been taken to the cemetery and were accompanied by convoys of vehicles following the legal procedures in Dicle University and Gazi Yaşargil Research hospitals. Hundreds of people are waiting at the cemetery for the ceremony that will be held in memories of the three people shot dead by police-backed counter-guerrilla forces.
