HDP’s imprisoned Group Deputy Co-chair İdris Baluken was sued with a demand for 10 years in jail.
Elazığ Public Chief Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against HDP Amed parliamentarian and İmralı Delegation Member İdris Baluken due to a speech he had made during the 2nd Congress of BDP Elazığ Branch in 2012.
Elazığ 2nd Heavy Penal Court accepted this indictment, and demanded that Baluken be given a sentence of 10 years in jail for "propagating for a terrorist organisation", "praising crime and the criminal" and "provoking public into hatred and enmity." The court also demanded that Baluken be stripped of his parliament membership, right to elect and get elected, and public services. Baluken’s speech was treated as if it constituted a crime.
Baluken’s trial will begin at Elazığ 2nd Heavy Penal Code on Wednesday, December 21.
A previous indictment against Baluken, prepared by Bingöl Chief Public Prosecutor Ahmet Bektaş and accepted by Bingöl High Criminal Court No.2, demanded aggravated life sentence and 18 years in prison for allegations of “membership to a terrorist organization”, “terrorist propaganda”, “disrupting the unity of the state and the integrity of the country by engaging in activities against the unitary structure of the country that aim to weaken the independence and disrupt the unity of the state and separate some territory under state sovereignty from the rule of the state under orders from PKK/KCK and becoming a member to and attending meetings of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) that declared autonomy for some parts of the eastern part of the country”, “attending illegal meetings and marches, unarmed”.
